In addition to prefilled syringe trays, a suitable way of disposing of used syringes is an absolute must. Syringes and other potentially hazardous medical materials must be disposed of in a disposal box. These special containers are puncture-proof and feature needle removal aids.
A sharps container must meet certain criteria. These include a size appropriate for the purpose – including the size of the opening – as well as leak-tightness, stability and a secure closure so that nothing can fall out, even if the container tips over. The fill level recommended by the manufacturer must not be exceeded. When the boxes are full, they are securely closed and disposed of in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
Suitable sharps containers for disposing of vaccine syringes after administration include, for example, the melijekt Box Plus 0.5 ERS, a new, improved version of the 500 ml sharps disposal box for the safe disposal and storage of needles. The box meets the requirements of DIN ISO 23907/TRBA 250 and fits melijekt syringe and blood sampling trays. A clear fill-level mark is printed on the label. For larger storage requirements, there is the new, improved melijekt sharps disposal box 2.0 ERS with a volume of 2000 ml. This, too, is a container for the safe storage of needles and other syringes until disposal. It meets the requirements of DIN ISO 23907/TRBA 250 and fits melijekt syringe and blood sampling trays. The oval insertion opening and the clear fill-level mark on the label make it easy to use. The innovative temporary and final closure can be operated with one hand. Dimensions: 24.4 cm x 10.5 cm x 14.0 cm.
We also offer containers for stationary use in the staff room: the melijekt sharps disposal drum with a capacity of 4 to 10 l. It features a hinged lid for temporary and final closure, which can be closed with one hand. The seal and warning sticker ensure safety. The containers are made of environmentally friendly recycled hard cardboard. They are suitable for the disposal and safe storage of syringes, other sharp objects and rapid COVID-19 tests.
