More clarity and safety: the new melipul® dispenser for blister sachets

Optimising medication supply with uni-dose pouch blisters

The correct, safe and clearly organised dispensing of medication is a central part of patient care – especially in everyday hospital life, where nursing staff face a multitude of tasks. In cooperation with the nursing staff and the hospital pharmacy of a renowned university hospital, an innovative dispenser for so-called uni-dose blisters was therefore developed. The aim was to make the dispensing of medication on the wards more efficient, safer and more patient-friendly.

The starting point: lots of small sachets, little clarity

Until now, medication was prepared individually in pouch blisters in the hospital pharmacy and delivered to the wards. There, it was handed out to patients in the form of numerous small sachets – each corresponding to the scheduled times of administration throughout the day.

In practice, this meant that a single patient could receive more than ten such sachets a day. This sheer number caused confusion, made it harder for nursing staff to check the medication and made it unnecessarily difficult for patients to take their medication correctly and at the right time.

The solution: a structured, intuitive dispenser with plenty of space and colour-coded labelling

The newly developed melipul® dispenser for blister sachets provides a targeted remedy. It allows uni-dose blisters to be sorted and presented in a structured way according to the time of administration – clearly arranged, easy to understand and safe to handle. The individual times of day – morning, midday, evening and night – are colour-coded, enabling both nursing staff and patients to find their way around quickly.

For nursing staff, this means a considerable reduction in workload: the daily preparation of medication becomes easier, sources of error are reduced and checking processes become more efficient. For patients, it creates a comprehensible system that promotes independence and increases the reliability of medication intake.

Sustainability through a reusable concept

Another decisive advantage: the melipul® dispenser for blister sachets and the associated distribution trays are made of high-quality, durable plastic. This means that, after use, they can be properly cleaned, reprocessed and used again. Unlike disposable packaging, the system relies consistently on a sustainable reusable concept that conserves resources while also offering economic benefits.
